Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard has told Midfielder Danny Drinkwater to leave the club, according to Daily Mail UK.
The former Leicester City midfielder was not part of Chelsea's squad that defeated Red Bull Salzburg 5-3 Wednesday night.
The England midfielder also did not travel to Germany for Chelsea's final pre-season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday.
Drinkwater did not play a single competitive minute under former manager, Maurizio Sarri, last season.
Brighton's manager, Graham Potter has already indicated interest to sign Drinkwater.
The newspaper reports that the Brighton boss wants the player on a season-long loan deal to enhance his midfield options.
Chelsea bought Drinkwater for £35m after he helped Leicester City win the Premier League with the Foxes in 2016.
He has made just five Premier League starts in his two years for Chelsea.
